Learn how to perform bone marrow examinations as an advanced provider. During an individualized practicum complete with biopsy trays and anatomical models, you’ll explore a broad compliment of procedural and diagnostic concepts.

Explore the basics of image interpretation and learn when to order a certain exam based on its strengths and weaknesses. Case presentations provide a comprehensive overview of the current radiologic tools in oncologic imaging.

Understand the most common dysrhythmias encountered in patients with cancer, secondary to the cardiotoxic effects of antineoplastic agents. Case studies introduce abnormalities, signs and symptoms, and therapies for basic and life-threatening dysrhythmias.

Build your confidence in biopsy and suturing during this hands-on, experiential workshop. After a short lecture, you’ll practice the latest techniques and develop a basic skill set. Nurse practitioners with no previous biopsy or suturing experience will benefit.

From 2–5 pm, learn how treatment planning and toxicity management change when patients with cancer have co-existing conditions. You’ll cover psychiatric illness, diabetes, and hypertension through interactive case scenarios on common and new treatment agents.

From 2–5 pm, hone in on the NIH grant process, including NCI and NINR funding opportunities, the peer review process, and common pitfalls when writing a grant proposal. Participants are encouraged to bring their research abstracts for feedback. Seating is limited, so sign up today.

Building Your Future in Oncology Nursing Science

Join us for light refreshments and an inspiring showcase of oncology nursing science through the years. During this informal poster session, you’ll network with established and emerging nurse scientists, learning about changes in research methods, the funding environment, and the impact on research career development. You’ll also receive tips on overcoming challenges to conducting research in diverse practice settings.
